Learn About and Make Your Own Mala Bracelet

Sunday, Feb. 19th

1:30p - 3:00p

Malas are strings of beads used as a tool for keeping your mind focused in reciting prayers and/or mantras during meditation. Malas originated with the Eastern spiritual practices of Buddhism and Hinduism and are similar to prayer, or rosary beads. A bracelet mala is commonly worn for staying focused on a set intention. A variety of beads will be available for you to choose from; however, bring any of your own beads you would like to incorporate into your mala. You will also have the option of constructing a few unique beads from polymer clay. Your personal mala will soon become as comfortable as an old friend! All materials will be included for you to design your own wrist mala.

Learn About and Experience Crystal Singing Bowl Chakra Opening

Sunday, March 11th

1:30p - 3:00p

The pure tones of quartz crystal bowls produce a vibration sound field, which resonates with the light body energy centers (chakras) and corresponding physical areas. Seven musical notes correspond to the seven colors of the rainbow, and are related to the seven main chakras. We will experience nine different bowls, and combinations of sounds which will soothe, relax, and open the chakras. Bring a blanket if you would like to lie on the floor and wear comfortable clothing. At the end of the session, you may choose one of the chakra stones to take home with you.

Learn About and Make Your Own Dream Web

Sunday, March 4th

1:30p - 3:00p

In Ojibwa legend, the dream catcher was created from willow branches and deer sinew, and hung over the sleeping baby to catch leaves, twigs, insects, or anything that may fall out of the sky. It later was made into a creation to catch a dream...and hold the not-so-happy ones in the web; lovely dreams are then free to float to the sleeper via a feather hung from the web. The morning sun then burns away the bad dreams left in the web, readying it for use the next night. We will create the webs with 7-9” pre-formed twig circles, artificial sinew; and adorn them with stones, moss, and feathers. All materials will be included, but you are encouraged to bring anything that you would like to attach or include in your dream web.

Discover Your Inner Drummer

(most likely hanging out with your inner child)

Sunday, March 25th

1:30p - 3:00p

What magick, what mystery might be found in the heartbeat of the drum, the rhythmic shake of the rattle? For ages, drumbeat and percussion have been used in rites of passage and celebration; for spiritual and psychic healing; to induce trance; lower or raise blood pressure and bring about altered states of consciousness. Do you wish to drum the spiritual essence into your sacred space, enjoy the soothing meditative state of a guided meditation, experience the shamanic journey, or just enjoy the rhythm and the motions of a drum circle? Suited for all experience levels, we will learn some basics of hand drumming. Bring a floor-standing drum (i.e. ashiko, djembe); if you do not have one, call the Market Path to borrow one.
