Learn About and Make Your Own Medicine Pouch

Future Sessions Will Resume In The Fall!!

For ages people have carried stones, herbs, and personal trinkets in a bag worn around the neck generally called a medicine bag. Worn for a variety of reasons - healing, protection, guidance - the bag is usually made of leather and filled with items that are of importance to the wearer, and a reflection of the person's life.

This is a simple construct of cutting the deerskin and punching holes for lacing.
Leather needles, sinew and permanent markers will be available should you want to further decorate and personalize your pouch;  you may want to bring any special beads or charms.

All the materials will be provided; deerskin, bead for the clasp, suede lacing.  We encourage you to bring any special beads or charms to further embellish your medicine bag.

We will discuss the correlation of color to each chakra, and the corresponding color of the gemstone and share the meaning of our individual talisman. A blessing ritual will conclude the class.

Learn About And Make Your Own Mala

Future Sessions Will Resume In The Fall!!!

Malas are strings of beads used as a tool for keeping your mind focused in reciting prayers and/or mantras during meditation.  They originated with the Eastern spiritual practices of Buddhism and Hinduism and are similar to prayer, or rosary beads. A full mala consists of 108 strung beads, but we will make a shorter version using 21-27 beads. Learn more about the use of malas for staying focused on your intentions in this transforming workshop. A variety of beads will be available for you to choose from; however, if you have any special beads you would like to incorporate into your mala, bring them along, too. You will also have the option of constructing a few unique beads from polymer clay to add to your creation.  Your personal mala will soon become as comfortable as an old friend!
